    Emotional Health Marathon Honoring “Altruism’s” 20th Anniversary

    PA “Altruism”, a non-governmental organization, is a leader in the field of suicide prevention and emotional support, announces the 20th anniversary of its establishment. On the occasion of this significant milestone, the organization is launching the Emotional Health Marathon today.

    During the next 6-week, 5 psychologists from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, members of the PA “Altruism” team, will offer citizens free support services to improve their emotional health. The Emotional Health Marathon starts today, June 22nd and will end on July 27th.

    Among the activities of the marathon are:

    • Every Thursday from 16:00 to 20:00, psychologists and counselors from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will voluntarily offer free emotional support sessions. Face-to-face consultations are offered in English, Romanian, Ukrainian and Russian. No appointment required.
    • Over 30 group events such as seminars, trainings, art therapy sessions at the organization’s headquarters.
    • Online events and support.

    About NGO “Altruism”

    NGO “Altruism”, founded by psychologist Liuba Ceban, became widely known when it started offering online emotional support services. Over the years, the organization has become a pioneer in the field of suicide prevention and emotional support, as well as in contributing to the mental health of citizens of the Republic of Moldova. The number of people who received emotional support offered by the suicide prevention Lifeline www.pentruviata.md exceeded 7500 people. We also trained more than 1000 specialists from different fields on topics related to the phenomenon of suicide. During the last 10 years, the organization has implemented over 30 projects in the field of suicide prevention.

    At the same time, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, “Altruism” has extended its services to refugees. During the last year, 10 projects of emotional support and humanitarian aid were implemented in the Republic of Moldova and in Ukraine. With the support of its partners, the organization provides regular humanitarian aid to over 400 mothers with children up to 3 years old, and more than 600 refugees from Chisinau benefited from emotional support and counseling sessions.

    Chișinău, Moldova, 27.02.2022 In the context of the constantly increasing number of refugees crossing the Ukrainian-Moldova border, the Altruism Association Moldova is requesting Human Rights organizations, Diplomatic institutions, Refugee organizations, Moldovan Authorities and International Rescue Missions to monitor and to assure that the basic human right to have physical needs met,  are fully respected towards Ukrainian citizens at all crossing points of the border.
    Considering:
    – the winter time we are in,
    –  the waiting time at the  border is up to 24h,
    – the presence of children in the waiting lines,
    – up to today, uneven distribution of humanitarian aid and support for all crossing points
    and in the context when
    -Ukrainian Authorities are totally focused on the protection of their lands from aggression,
    -almost inexistent initiatives for basic human needs meeting at the Ukrainian border
    -Moldova authorities and volunteers are focused outstandingly on refugees support at  the Moldovan side of the border,
    There is an URGENT NEED to take responsibility for meeting the  basic human needs of the refugees at the Ukrainian side of the border
    We request Human Rights organizations, Diplomatic institutions, Refugee organizations, Moldovan Authorities, and International Rescue Missions to monitor and assure that the following human needs of the refugees waiting in line to cross the Moldova border are met: 
     
    Toilets, Water, Food, Gas or other solutions for keeping people warm in the nights and other needs.

    Vă rugăm să asigurați satisfacerea nevoilor umane de bază ale refugiaților de pe partea ucraineană a graniței!

    Chișinău, Moldova, 27.02.2022 În contextul creșterii constante a numărului de refugiați,  care traversează granița dintre Ucraina și Republica Moldova, Asociația Obștească ”Altruism” solicită organizațiilor pentru drepturile omului, instituțiilor diplomatice, organizațiilor pentru refugiați, autorităților moldovenești și misiunilor internaționale de salvare să monitorizeze și să să se asigure că dreptul uman de bază de a avea  nevoile fizice umane satisfăcute este pe deplin respectat față de cetățenii ucraineni la toate punctele de trecere a frontierei.
    Având în vedere:
     – anotimpul rece de iarnă în care ne aflăm,
     – timpul de așteptare la frontieră pealocuri ajungând până la 24 de ore,
     – prezența copiilor în rândurile de așteptare,
    – până în prezent, distribuirea neuniformă a ajutorului umanitar și a sprijinului pentru toate punctele de trecere.
    și în contextul în care
     -Autoritățile ucrainene sunt concentrate în totalitate pe protecția pământurilor lor împotriva agresiunii,
     -inițiative aproape inexistente pentru a satisface nevoile umane de bază pe partea Ucraineană de graniță
    – autoritățile și voluntarii moldoveni sunt concentrați în mod extraordinar pe sprijinirea refugiaților din partea moldovenească a frontierei,
    Există NECESITATEA URGENTĂ de a ne asuma responsabilitate pentru satisfacerea nevoilor umane de bază ale refugiaților de pe partea ucraineană a graniței!
    Solicităm organizațiilor pentru Drepturile Omului, instituțiilor diplomatice, organizațiilor pentru refugiați, autorităților moldovenești și misiunilor internaționale de salvare să monitorizeze și să se asigure că sunt îndeplinite următoarele nevoi umane ale refugiaților care sunt în așteaptare de a trece frontiera Republicii Moldova:
    Toalete, spă, slimente, combustibil sau alte soluții pentru a menține oamenii în căldură în timpul nopții și alte nevoi.
